🏫 Community Updates
- New! Students Under 18 are Required to Live on Campus: To better support younger students, all international students under 18 will be required to live in Shoreline’s on-campus dormitory starting Fall 2026. Students who submitted their application before June 1 may choose to live on or off campus. Students who apply on or after June 1 and have special circumstances may request an exception using the On-Campus Housing Exception Form. 👉 Watch a video dorm tour.
- On Campus Memorial Service for Mr. Bo Fu on June 11: Shoreline will hold an on-campus memorial service on June 11 from 12–1:30pm Seattle time to honor and share memories of late Director, Mr. Bo Fu. We will also dedicate a plaque and announce a new scholarship for international students in his memory. The service will also be streamed online. Please email ieoutreach@shoreline.edu if you would like the link to attend.
- Governor Bob Ferguson Shares Washington’s Commitment to International Students: While there is uncertainty in the world right now, Washington State remains committed to welcoming and supporting international students. Our Governor Bob Ferguson and First Lady Colleen Ferguson recently recorded a video highlighting opportunities for international students at Washington’s community colleges and sharing a message of welcome. 👉 Watch our governor’s video.
- A Conversation with Human Rights Advocate Bojana Ilic: From April 20–22, Shoreline welcomed Bojana Ilic, a Hubert Humphrey Fellow, human rights advocate, and Senior Consultant at the World Bank Group, to speak about contemporary Bosnia and Herzegovina. She shared insights into the country’s history, people, and ongoing peace-building efforts. Events like this reflect Shoreline’s continued commitment to global learning and diverse perspectives.

🇰🇷 Student Spotlight: Seyoung from Korea
Seyoung joined Shoreline’s High School Completion Program in Fall 2025 and has quickly become an active member of our campus community. She studies full-time, plays sports, and has an on-campus job.
“Since arriving in the United States alone at age 17, I have had many opportunities to become deeply involved in the Shoreline College community. As a business student, I balance academics with my work as front desk assistant in the International Education Department and my participation on the women’s soccer team. Through my involvement on campus, I have experienced the global perspective, determination, and community spirit that define Shoreline students.”
Please let us know how we can continue supporting you as our valued partners and community! Have questions or comments? Write to us anytime at ieoutreach@shoreline.edu. We will be back with more updates next month!
